KITTY KAT WOMEN HANDBAGS AUTHENTICITY GUIDE Prada *Prada designer bags may be one of the most difficult Designer lines to identify as being authentic because of its panorama of styles, shapes, materials, and details; however, there are a few details that are dead giveaways as to a Prada bag’s authenticity. Authenticity Cards: Each Prada bag should come with 2 or more authenticity cards depending on the material. The first two cards should come in a small black envelope with the PRADA logo on the front as well as “CERTIFICATO DI AUTENTICITA” and “AUTHENTICITY CERTIFICATE CARD” underneath. The first card should resemble a credit card in that it will be plastic. The front of this card will say “Certificato di autenticita – Authenticity certificate card”, and the back will have a magnetic strip and the model number (ART.), style name (MATERIALE), and color (COLORE). It will all be in Itailian and capital  lettering. Below that it will say, “This Prada product is granted a guarantee covering all manufacturing defects”, in both Italian and English. At the bottom of the card there will be two boxes that are usually not filled out that say “NEGOZIO / SHOP” and “DATA / DATE” above. These boxes are meant for the retailer to fill out, however many do not. Hardware: Tod’s uses very little hardware and is not at all flashy or ornate: it is very simple yet elegant. If there is hardware, it is either the metal or rubber feet of the bag, metal plate that serves to secure the top of the bag from the fold-over strap, or on occasion a few metal studs. Lining: On black bags, the thread is black; on camel bags, the thread is brown. There are no holograms or secret pockets. They are very simple and classic. Fabric Tag and Attached Hologram:  The most unique characteristic in regards to authenticity because one side is the hologram and the other side has a saying in both Italian and English “The label guarantees the authenticity of this garment”. If the bag has an interior pocket the hologram is usually on the opposite side of the pocket from the leather tag and if it does not have one then the hologram is usually stitched next to the leather tag. Fendi typically does a great job informing customers on how to care for the bags—there may be some bright colored cards on leather care and such in the bag as well. Lining: Always nylon, with the word Fendi imprinted on the fabric (which is usually spaced far part on the fabric). Specific Bags The Selleria: a leather bag with leather interior with off-color top stitching on each edge. There is a tag on the outside that is leather and has an oval silver plate which says “Fendi Selleria” and the word “sterling” on it. There is also a somewhat larger silver oval plate on the interior pocket that says “Fendi Selleria, Lavorazione a mano, Serie numerate” and the serial number is imprinted on the silver with 1925 underneath, ROMA on the left, and ITALIA on the right.
